The gear shaft is an integrated design consisting of a "gear section" and a "journal section":
- Gear section: Machined with standard involute tooth profiles (parameters such as module and pressure angle can be customized), transmitting motion and power through tooth profile meshing. Depending on requirements, it can be designed as spur, helical, or herringbone gear structures.
- Journal section: Cooperates with bearings or support structures to transmit torque, requiring high concentricity and surface finish, often equipped with keyways, relief grooves, and other process features.
- Manufacturing process: Forging forming (to ensure material density) + CNC precision machining (to control tooth profile accuracy and shaft diameter dimensions). Some products have surface carburizing and quenching (to improve wear resistance), while bronze material products focus on corrosion resistance treatment.
- Features: High load capacity, high transmission efficiency, reliable operation, customizable design (adjusting parameters such as module, number of teeth, shaft diameter according to working conditions).
Product Classification
1. By gear type:
- Spur gear shaft: Gear tooth profile is straight, providing smooth and simple transmission, suitable for low-speed or light-load conditions.
- Helical gear shaft: Gear tooth profile is a helix, offering smoother transmission, lower noise, and higher load capacity, suitable for medium to high-speed heavy-load conditions.
- Herringbone gear shaft: Gear tooth profile is herringbone-shaped, with excellent combined load capacity and transmission balance, capable of counteracting axial forces, suitable for high-power, heavy-load transmission applications (such as large reducers).
2. By material:
- Forged steel gear shaft: Commonly uses alloy steels such as 20CrMo, 42CrMo, quenched for high surface hardness and core toughness, suitable for most industrial scenarios.
- Bronze gear shaft: Strong corrosion resistance and excellent friction reduction performance, suitable for transmission in humid, corrosive environments or under non-lubricated conditions.
3. By application:
- General mechanical gear shaft: Used in ordinary reducers, conveyor equipment, etc.
- Ball mill main drive gear shaft: Specially designed for ball mills, with extremely high load capacity.
- Gearbox gear shaft: Used in automotive and construction machinery gearboxes, requiring high precision.
Scope of Application
1. General machinery: reducers, conveyor equipment, hoisting machinery, agricultural machinery, etc.
2. Heavy equipment: mining machinery (such as ball mill main drive systems), construction machinery (excavator and loader gearboxes), petrochemical equipment.
3. Special equipment: automotive gearboxes, wind power gearboxes, marine propulsion systems.
4. Special working conditions: Bronze gear shafts are suitable for humid and corrosive environments such as hydraulic engineering and port machinery; herringbone gear shafts are suitable for heavy-load scenarios such as high-power power generation equipment and rolling mill machinery.
Working Principle
1. Torque transmission: The torque from the motor or prime mover is transmitted to the gear shaft through a coupling, driving the gear section to rotate.
2. Motion conversion:
- Speed change: Meshing with gears of different tooth counts to achieve speed reduction or increase (e.g., the gear shaft meshes with a large gear to reduce speed).
- Direction change: Through the helix angle of helical or herringbone gears, axial force is converted into partial radial force, changing the output shaft direction.
3. Force decomposition: Tangential, radial, and axial forces (for helical/herringbone gears) are generated during gear meshing. The journal section supports these forces through bearings to ensure smooth operation.
